about 1 1/2 years ago I bought 6 ducks. 3 of those died from predators. 3 of them survived. and we had 2 peking ducks and 1 rouen . one peking duck gradually lost the ability to quack. and is usually seperated from the rest of the ducks. her brest is also like caved in every time she tries to quack. her chest area caves in. ill try to get a video later.

Since the bird is over a year old and was quacking within the last few months, then it's a she.

It's possible that the bird might have a fungal condition (since it's happened over weeks not days)?

It sounds like something long term and fungal (aspergillosis) issues are pretty tough to diagnose. Is she otherwise healthy?

well, she acts kinda strange like she can't really communicate with the other ducks.

p.s. i have a male rouen, and I know she is female.

Well she quacked loud before, yes?

Oh and by the way - males will mount males; they're not particular. lol

For what it's worth-PEKIN ducks are creamy white. PEKING duck is brown, crisp & delicious.

I found out something that might be of interest to you.

You said that this bird was one of a flock that had been attacked. I was recently reading up on air sacs and their functions. One is for sound as birds don't have vocal cords. If a certain air sac is damaged, a bird cannot produce sound though it can still live. I believe that's what happened to your duck. A damaged air sac wouldn't necessarily be noticed from the outside if deflated. It's possible that it repaired and that's why you see the combination of her chest deflating (that's the airsac that puffs up when she talks) and her lack of sound.
