I can't see exceeding 6 total. It's a space and noise issue..That would be 2:4. I'm going to see how it goes... I know people with a giant farm and there's about 350 acres that has 8 ponds on it. They already have birds on the property so mallard would have friends to run with. They don't eat the birds they just like them for bug control and they eat algae in the many ponds. Sooooo... if the girls are getting worked too much I'll reach out to my friend at the farm.

I think you came around to the solution. Sounds ideal, keep a smaller flock and just rehome some of them. The smaller the flock the more room they have to play and forage. The poo is less of an issue, and you have more time to enjoy them as individuals.
