duck w/swelling on foot

I am struggling with one of my Pekin drakes. Vet said it looked like a turtle my have got to his foot. She gave him an Antiflamatory and antibiotic. It's been several days of meds and soaking feet. I am not seeing much improvement? Can I put liquid bandaids on the Cuts? Or should I call the vet again?
I wouldn't put liquid bandage on it may keep it from draining which wouldn't be a good thing. May take a little longer to see improvement, are you soaking in warm epsom salt water?

I put epsom salts and warm water into a 5 or 6 inch diameter, one inch deep bowl. I put a folded paper towel into it, then I get my beloved to hold the duck and I put her foot into the bowl and wrap the soaked towel around it.

Then we visit, the three of us, for a few minutes.

Then I slather the foot with antibiotic ointment, and we are done.

I have been soaking his foot in Epsom salt twice a day. can I use neosporin? Vet just said to soak and give antibiotics /pain meds. He seems to bear some weight on his foot now. There isn't a fever in his foot like before but still swollen. Hoping he is on the mend.

Any improvement is good no matter how slow, and as long as you can keep his foot clean then I don't see any reason not to use Neo. Just don't use anything that has pain relief in it.

I am new to ducks so I am trying not to muck it up.
I don't think you will. Ducks are very hardy and if given half a chance can get over most anything. So your on the right track. Keep up the soaks too. If you can get a product called Vetericyn I buy it at TSC is it kinds expensive but well worth it, it is a spray so after soaking and drying off you could spray it and maybe wrap it up over night. But Neo will work well too. http://vetericyn.com/technology/

My two females have gone broody. They won't leave their nest and if I get near they hiss at me. Is this normal broody behavior. This is the first they have set on them all day?

Very typical broody behavior if you tried to look under them they would probably nip you, don't take it personal though it's just the way they are. When they begin to get the urge to brood they will begin to build their nest laying an egg a day till they feel they have enough[don't ask me how they get at the number they do but they do]. During this time they may sit off an on on the nest then get up and make you think they really aren't broody at all but then all of a sudden you'll notice they haven't come out all day and when they do they will make the most nasty broody poop you have ever seen or smelled. And we thought chickens were bad, nope ducks win hands down on broody poo. LOl Once they commit and begin then you start counting the days. And before you know it you'll have ducklings running around. Be sure to post back and let us know how it is going and when the ducklings arrive.. along with pics.
