Hi all. I've been reading around and haven't been able to find a solid answer yet. I'm building mg coop this weekend and have a duck and 8 chicks. What is the best type of watering for this situation. Watering as in drinking water. I would like something that could last with being changed everyother day. So far it seems like a waterer over a catch of some sort is the best. Thanks

I use this for my ducks as well, but be aware..ducks will just keep drinking and playing in this until it's empty and the pen is soaked. Happens 100% of the time..ducks like water..go figure..lol

I hang 2 litre bottles with poultry nipples in the caps for inside the coop. No food in there, though. Ducks need water deep enough for them to dip their heads in when they're eating. So all food stays outside.

Since my duckys like to drain their hug dispencer, what can be used so they don't run out if water when my husband finally goes back to work & im gone to work as well?

I'm toying with the idea of building some sort of catching system. With like a pan underneath to keep the litter dry. In the yard I don't care what they do but in the coop and run I wanna maintain it for at least 2 days before cleaning litter. Ducks remind me of a mastiff drinking water. Drink some and fling the rest elsewhere. I'm concerned with my 12 hour shifts Also. I don't want them to run out.

Or some special kind of bedding under the water. ? Hmmm

well..that might work..but once the waterer is empty..they'll just play in the catch pan until that's empty. I do notice that when my ducks are out of the pen and in the yard, they don't drain the water. they do play in it..and drink it..but they forage in the grass and play ..it's almost like a boredom thing when they're in the pen..they have nothing else to do, so they play and splash all the water out.
