Miss Lydia,

I ordered mine - all female - from Meyer Hatchery. And while their guarantee is for 90% (a drake or two possible), they were 100% correct.

This is the first time in many years I have had ducks, and I decided I did not want to risk having too many drakes, as sometimes happens with straight runs. The all-girl-group has done well, overall. We did lose Drei, but everyone else seems fine.

Someday I might try hatching out some eggs. But I think in between here and there would be the arrival of a couple of dashing runner drakes.

And I am not quite ready for that.

I still want a pekin, but I'd also like a good looking runner boy. I love mine and they are great pets, but seeing some of the more show quality ones that are much more upright, I'd like one.
But just 1, I don't want 10 to order from Holderread's
Though maybe I'll post on CL or something to see if anybody in the local area would like to order 8-9 so I can place an order and just end up with my 1 (or 2). But then I don't think I want 2 drakes with my 3 girls.

I want a pair of fawn and white indian runners and a pair of welsh harlequin. I also want the golden 300 hybrid, a khaki campbell and a black swedish. I already have a pair of pekins and I do love my ducks. My husband just finished building me a new pen today. I can hardly wait for spring. I would like a pair of geese to but I'm undecided about the white chinese and the french toulouse. We have 11 acres so I think that will be plenty of room for them. He has promised me a new house for them in the spring but we'll have to wait and see. Keeping my fingers crossed.
