I have a 7 month old Pekin - female. She's been laying fine, eating, drinking, pool playing.... doing all the duck things. For some time now, one of her eyes has been red and sometimes, foamy but maybe not foam - maybe it's a water bubble - but it's white. It does not look like the eye has any issues. Just around the eye. Red circle. Sometimes scabby looking. I have tried various stuff to treat it. Neosporine, saline eye washes, I have this really good stuff recommended by the local feed store that you puff this yellow powder - says it's ok for eyes. It's worked marvels on other ailments. I just puff it right at her eye. I don't know the name of it and it's in the coop. But I think it says Puff on the outside. I have tried opthomotic (spelling?) gels. The eye clears a little and then comes back.
I have a jar of Tylan that I bought just in case I need it at some point. It's a powder. I'm thinking I may separate the duck and put some in her water. Does anyone know what the ratio for that should be? Anyone have any other ideas on how I can cure this thing? I'm tired of dealing with it. She runs from me now cause she knows I'm going to 'do something' to her. I hate that. But I have to get that eye cleared up.
She lives with another Pekin and 13 chickens and none of them have this so it's not contagious.
Thanks for your help.
