i have a 9 month old Khaki cambell with and injured back leg... the top of the leg is swollen and warm to the touch it was limpimg around coming out of the duck house one morning so i figured it was just a sprain but as of saturday i have brought him into the house and at night i bring another one in for a companion he is still drinking and eating but not really eating the crumbles or pellets just mostly dried meal worms and cucmber....does anyone know if it could not be a sprain and what it maybe? i have also been putting him in a soak with epson salt twice a day and then in a warm bath for a swim and the warmth tends to help and some swelling went down but he sure does seem depressed i just dont want to put him back out with the other 9 ducks and have them run him over and hurt his leg even worse....:(

There is no way to know if it's a sprain or something else; short of taking it to a vet .Often, these leg problems heal quickly-others take a lot longer. I've been working with a favorelle rooster for many weeks. Very slowly the thigh is improving. Limit space, keep warm, a room mate helps, feed a good diet and clean water. Keep on with what you are doing and good luck.

he is doing alot better today the swelling is down about half way and when he is in the bath he is using it more so thanks and i will keep doing everything i am doing

always visit a vet to be sure of the situation. you never want to risk it. Watch him and make sure he's not stressing that leg, because if he does, it can just swell more. keep letting him swim around! It keeps pressure off of the injured leg. How's he doing today?

swelling has went down halfway but now he wont eat any of his food but a few dried meal worms here and there i did get him to eat a litte bit of boiled egg
