Hello,
My duck has a swollen ankle and toe. it doesn't look like that bumble foot as there is no scab or head on it. i have attached pictures to see if anyone has any ideas. She is limping, laying down a lot. i soaked her in warm water. i can add epsom salt, but hadn't due to hearing conflicting info about whether or not that was good for them. Thank you for any help with this!

i dont let them free range right now, BUT she is with two drakes. i know, shame on me. i am waiting until spring when i can have time to order and raise two or three more females to add into the mix. Anyway, one of them could have been too rough on her?

I should clarify, they have a big fenced in enclosure so she can walk around, but it's not a big enough space that i think she would be frolicking to where she could get hurt. but i guess anything can happen.

Ok, i will try that. i was trying not to upset her. But maybe she would enjoy the break. :yesss: Also, i will send the underneath of her foot when i get home. i wonder if i need to get her on an antibiotic for protective measures? I haven't had to treat a duck for any issues so this is new to me.

My duckie Rita (my avatar picture) had a very similar issue last year. Limping with a swollen toe. The vet said it was bumblefoot, but there was no infection or scabbing. I think she must have sprained it (not broken - they took x-rays). I applied Blue-Kote on it for a little while, but it eventually just healed itself. Took about a month and a half.

Would you recommend that i buy "Blue-Kote"?

i will start with a good picture of the underneath of the foot, soaking in epsom salt every day, and go from there. Thanks to both of you for your help. And Rita is so pretty! Lydia, do your geese and ducks interact well? (off topic)..
