Welcome to BYC! Sorry about your sister and your duck. :hugs She's at an age where reproductive cancer is common, and this type of cancer can spread to the intestines which can cause full or partial obstructions. Other things that can cause obstructions are ascites (water belly), ingestion of a foreign body, parasites, coccidiosis, bacterial, or protozoal infections (intestines swell to the point nothing passes).

A severely infected and/or impacted repro-tract could cause an obstruction too, but I think you would be able to feel that with the exam.

Some questions for you...
  • When was the last time she pooped and did it look normal?
  • When you did the digital exam, did you feel any pimple like structures? If you felt them, it's almost certainly cancer.
  • Do the exam again and see if you can feel a shell-less egg.
  • Does her belly feel bloated? If bloated, there is a chance it's ascites, which is a build-up of fluid in the abdominal cavity. Fluid can be drained at home, but there are risks associated with doing it. Ascites can have many causes and draining just extends their life for a few days, sometimes a few months.
  • How's her weight?
  • How much is she eating and drinking?

Im leaning toward the spread of cancer, what had her bring her in first place was slow progressive limping, no bubblefoot, everything felt normal bone structure wise, good diet, water therpat every day, took her out to social with the others (I have no children if u can tell lol)..but this been progressing over week now, keeps preening herself after bath but feathers not doing like normal so thus small heater, just keep holding wings out and pressing bottom down like in labor..breaks my heart, eating and drinking well...tho I know this will have bad ending so I have my mattress on floor and her big doggie bed next to me and allowed her partner to stay by her side so her last few days is comfortable as possible..thank you all for listening to me..knew u all would understand..if comes point to cull can a vet do this? I know I cant

My heart aches for you. :hugs A vet can euthanize, and if that is something you can afford, I think it's the way to go. Let us know if you need anything, we're here for you. :hugs
