One of my buff duckings (5 weeks old) is acting very strangely. Seizures, neck twisting, walking in circles and not interested at all in following the others. I would say she’s acting blind. She also stands still and looks upwards for hours at a time. I have not seen her sit down in the past five days. She is drinking water just fine, but has not eaten on her own in at least five days. I am tube feeding a mix of poultry mash and protein paste for dogs and cats, mixed with water. I have been treating for thiamine and niacin deficiencies (which I am familiar with) for 4 days with no results. I have also been treating for hypoglycemia, with no results. The duck is also severely underweight. To clarify, she is not lethargic. She seems very active but not alert, and disoriented, showing these odd behaviors. If this sounds familiar, or you have any idea what’s up, any info would be great! Thank you.

I had a duckling who had similar issues and would seize badly. She had a niacin problem and over time it corrected itself with supplements. I would crush up niacin in the ducklings water. But in addition, I would have to spoon feed her. I crushed up keflex in her food as well because I wasnt sure if she had a strange infection. However, i do believe it was the vitamin deficiency. I made her scrambled eggs and would buy baby food (squash pumpkin, etc.), add peas, and add more non flushing niacin. I also would get her pedialyte to drink (no dyes or flavor). Over time, she stopped seizing and is a happy healthy duck.
