We bought 6 assorted ducklings from Tractor supply. We were told they were about a week old when we got them and we have now had them for about a week. Based on what we can find about them they all seem to be white pekins. There is one that seems to be having issues. He is larger than the rest of the group and has one leg that seems to be bowed. He is still eating and drinking fine but is not wanting to be as active as he was before and is having alot of balance issues. We are feeding them a non medicated chick starter feed with 20% protein as well as mixing about 125mg of niacin into a gallon of water for them. Any advice on what we can do to help the larger on that is having issues. his name is oddball cuz his is different form the rest.

Niacin is the most lacking nutrient in chick feed when used for ducks, but its not the only one. Since Pekins are the fastest growing ducks they are the ones that struggle the most with getting enough vitamins and minerals to support their growth.

Are you feeding chick starter or Flock Raiser or...?

That's the best vitamin / mineral pack I have found. Its the one recommended by Metzers, but its about half the price Metzer charges. I would try this and see if your bird improves. Unfortunately they have been breed to grow so fast that occasionally something goes wrong and the birds skeleton just can't properly support the bodies super fast growth.

Wishing your ducky the best :wee

If you don’t want to wait for something come in the mail we’ve found this works really well also and can be found at TSC in the cattle dept 1 ml a day over a tasty treat so they get full dose.

We been giving them 125 niacin thinking about uping it his playing m eating n drinking just laying around a lot but today he let my husband touch him no problem when they normal all run away im worryed about him any other things like food or even vitimas I can give him to help I feed them peas my husband think his gonna pass away Idk

You could try poultry Nutri drench but honestly the liquid b complex seems to work the best it has all essential b vitamins and Pekins just need more. So he’s eating and drinking? Could be his legs are just weak and he doesn’t feel like getting up and walking put food a water close by him.

My husband's going to pick up some brewer's yeast and he's going to try to find that liquid B complex do we need to give him both or just one
