hi! I am new to raising ducklings/chicks. I have two of each and have been raising them in our home until they are big enough to move to my parents coop. However the ducklings have become extremely attached to me. When in their pen in the house they are fine if they can’t see me because they know I’m there. But when I take them outside to graze around, swim and get some sun, I can’t leave their line of sight for even a second or they start making all kinds of noises and running around searching for me. Of course in the beginning I thought it was the sweetest thing ever, bc I adore them. But now that they are getting closer to the age where we are gonna move them to their forever home, I’m scared!! I don’t want them to freak out, or stop eating or anything that would cause them harm. I’m so tempted to get them diapers and just keep them will they grow out of this?!

they LOVE you! and that is awesome but as long as your forever home has predator protection which is 1/2" hardware cloth all over any cracks or crevices they will be fine. I am talking abou their house. In their run just make sure that they have cover over head from owls, hawks etc so they don't get taken from any predators from above. They will get over you not being there but just be sure you've provided the best protection from above as well as in their pen. I learned the hard way that I need to have netting over the top of my run. Please do that because I don't want anyone to experience what I had to.
