I wanted to ask what you think about this...

How much chance is there for manually opening a hatching egg (duckling trapped in a shell) to cause the ducklings behavior to be interfered with, in regards to it being willing to sit under the momma duck right after hatching?

A duckling will imprint on who or whatever is with it almost 24/7 for the first day or so. Getting a hen to accept the duckling would be the hardest part of the equation.

Do you think if she's not accepting a duckling, that she's smelling illness/disease/premature development issues etc?

Thanks.
