Hello I have 3 ducklings that are about a week old. I had a waterer from Tractor Supply Company, but then they got too big and I switched to a gallon of milk and cut holes out today. They don’t seem to be taking well to the milk idea and aren’t sticking their heads in. I ended up just getting a bowl today and supervising them because I want them to be able to clear their nostrils but I don’t want them to obviously get in. They loved the bowl and all 3 of them were successfully able to dunk their heads in. I left the milk container there in case since they absolutely need water. I noticed though after they used the bowl to clear the nostrils, one of them had sort of a whistling through the nose happening. I tried to get close to figure out which duckling it was but they’re still in that stage of being afraid of me, although they have become much more comfortable with me as the week has gone on. This whistling noise only happened after they dunked their heads in. All 3 are now sleeping together and I do hear the whistling noise a tiny bit, but it’s MUCH less than what I heard before.
So my three questions are:
1. Is this noise normal? I don’t notice their mouths being open more than normal and before they settled down, everyone was running around at top duckling speed. Haha.
2. When they’re drinking their water, it sounds like they’re sneezing in it? This is them clearing their nostrils right? Seems obvious. It doesn’t happen when they’re not in water.
3. Did anyone have good luck with any other type of waterer besides a milk jug since my little ones don’t seem to be taking to it?

This is what I use. I think with your ducklings one probably just over did. As long as they are acting normal in every other way just keep an eye for now. Sure would like to see your babies
