We had our "loner" duck show up in our yard with 14 ducklings (plus another straggler the cats got). The duck is a mallard-colored Campbell, while her choice suitor is a kacki Campbell (though a mallard Call Duck often harrassed her).
She had 10 ducklings with yellow markings on black, with black bills and legs. I'm assuming these are mallard colored. The other 5 are yellow markings on brown, with brown bills and legs.
Are these differences sex-linked? What color should the brown ducklings become?
Thanks for any help.
