Help
I don't know what I am doing wrong! This past June I brought home two baby ducks. They were kept in an oversized rubbermaid tote with fine pine shavings food and a bowl of water(so they could dip their bills) With the temp being around 75 in the room they were in I did not give them a heat lamp. They did great for a few weeks, eating and growing! When they started to get adult feathers I made them an outside pen area with a small pool in it. They could easily get in and out and would have a blast. They were also provided with a shaded area in the pen and their normal food and water dishes. At duck I would gather them up and place them back in their tote. One morning the bigger of the two ducks was acting very lethargic, we took them outside and gave them a water melon treat and fresh water. She ate and drank but then, boom just flopped over dead. She was probably about 6-8 weeks old!! We had a little funeral for her and then ordered some more ducks so our other duck wouldn't be lonely. While the other duck is now full grown and living outside our three baby ducklings arrived 3 weeks ago. I followed the same routine but cut back on snacks, I wasn't sure how their little digestive systems would react and I didn't know what killed the last one. This morning when I went to refresh their water one of the three ducklings was dead
I don't know what is happening or if ducklings just have a higher mortality rate because I have never lost a chicken. Any advise is super helpful. They are eating a flock starter and only have fresh fruits or vegetables for snacks
