I have a Khaki Campbell duckling that is almost 2 months old. He or she (not sure yet) is picking up feathers around the yard from the other ducks and eating them. It is also aggressively preening the other ducks in the pond and eating those feathers as well. They are on layer crumbles with brewers yeast and sea kelp supplements. I had them on a chick starter early on, but the Khaki developed angel wing and was told it can be caused by too much protein in the feed. Anyone have any thoughts? Is it missing something in it’s diet?

2 month old ducklings should not be on layer pellets. Too much calcium. I’d get them on an All Flock which is formulated for all poultry and has necessary niacin. And what’s nice about All Flock is you never have to change just put out oyster shell when they begin to lay. It also has more protein in it which sounds like your duckling is needing

I agree with miss Lydia.
It sounds like your duckie needs more protein in its diet. All flock is the best choice in my opinion.
While high protein diet has been cited as one potential cause for Angel wing it is unclear if this is completely accurate and to my notion from all I've read it seems to be more of an inadequate nutrition thing or genetic predisposition to having it rather than exclusively from eating too much protein. Young ducks that are still growing are going to need more protein than what layer feed is probably going to have in it. :)
