Hi Everybody, I had quite the surprise this morning, I went out to the garage to check on the ducklings & Strawberry was out of the tote walking around the garage!!!! I'm not sure how she was able to escape the tote :idunno, I know they are growing like weeds but I didn't think she would be able to climb out!!! I'm not sure how long she was out, they were in the tote when I checked on them lastnite around 9 before I went to bed. My husband goes to the garage every morning before he leaves for work around 4AM & I'm sure if he would have seen her out he would have put her back in the tote or told me she was out. She is fine, I think she was confused that she got out but couldn't figure out how to get back in!!!! I've been putting them in the run during the day so they can swim in the kiddie pool & the adult ducks can see/get used to them. The nights have still been cool here lows in the 40's daytime highs in the mid 60's - 70's, they are about a month old ( I'm guessing they were pretty big went I got them ), would they be okay to move them into the run permanently????

My Ducklings have been outside for a week or two now they are 5 weeks old. They sleep in the chicken shed at night and free range during the day. They have no heatlamp. They are fine even when it drops down to 40.Ducks are tough birds.Sad to see people treating there ducks like little babies keeping them in there house til there 3 months old.

Thanks, I wasn't planning keeping the ducklings inside for 3 months, was just trying to be a good, responsible " duck mom " & do what's best to keep the ducklings health & safe. I'll be moving them into the run today.

I wasn't referring to you. I've seen a few people on here who post a thread saying there (ducklings) went out for the first time and they look like a full grown duck.Sounds like you have a plan.

Like I said I'm moving the ducklings to the run today, they will be separated from the adults ducks, I've tried introducing the adults to the babies & it didn't go very well the adults were very aggressive to the ducklings. Will they get used to see the ducklings & accept them???

Adults don't like Peeps so wait till they find their adult voices and a Drake might never accept a young Drake.
