New here since I just got a few more ducklings (12), but I wanted to know would making their feed into a porridge be good for them? I recently noticed they struggle to swallow their dry food and almost looks like they choke until they get water. So instead of using the dry food I mix a bit of water into their food and feed them like that. I've just started doing this today but I was also wondering would it be alright to save the food if I have some extra around. They have water 24/7 but I've been trying to give them food 3 times a day instead of 24/7 since they seem to just immediately eat it when I give it too them. I don't want to accidently overfeed them and have something happen but any help and advice would be great. I usually feed them around 8 am when I wake up, 5 pm when I get home, and at 10 pm before I go to bed.

Struggling to swallow without water is normal. If they have a deep water dish, they should be okay.
You can do wet feed, I suppose, but I’m not sure it’s safe to save it. I’ve read wet feed spoils very fast.

I do not recommend feeding ducklings on a schedule. They need all the food they can get while they’re growing. They will not overeat. You can feed on a schedule once they’re full grown.

We feed Mazuri Waterfowl feeds at all life stages. You might like to try it, as Mazuri Waterfowl Starter Duckling & Gosling Food is designed to be fed in water and floats, reducing waste. You can also feed it dry.

Allow them access to feed all day. You can pick it up at night if you wish. They will not over eat. No harm in wetting it, but you dont have to. My (adult) ducks drop a percentage of dry feed into their water bowls and it winds up getting wasted.
