I have an ancona duckling about 2 and a half weeks old who got caught in a fence. I looked him all over and the only injury I see is a patch of skin about the size of a dime missing on the back of his neck. It's oozing blood a little around the edges when he moves it. I rinsed it off, there's no debris and no jagged skin. What, if anything, do I need to do? Is it better to give it air? Or wrap it up? Do I need to put some sort of topical on it?

Thanks!

I would just do the usual first aid just like you would do for yourself--clean it up with a disinfectant soap, dry it , then apply Neosporin ointment without pain reliever. Leave it open, and reapply the ointment every day. If there is pecking toward the wound or a chance of it, I would use BluKote spray to cover the redness.

Thanks! I kept him clean and added a little neo w/o pain reliever. He looks pretty good this morning, I'll check him again when I get home from work.
