I hatched a duckling and after it keeping it in the incubator for 24 hours after it hatched it has now dried, however, some of the yolk dried to its back. Do I need to try and get it off? It has dried and is pretty hard. Have not had this happen before. Some of the other ducklings peck at the dried yolk on it every once in a while. Do I need to remove him? Thanks.

How precious. have you tried using some warm water and working on the dried yolk? If you want and everyone has all yolk absorbed you can put some warm water in a sink or tub just enough in the tub to top of their legs and in the sink same amount. Let them play and wash then try getting it off. It may take a few days of working on it to get it all removed. Always supervise and pat dry then right back under heat. This will also get them preening and get their oil gland to working.
