I have a two week old duckling that hasn't grown at all in the week I've had him. I got hims at Tractor Supply last Friday, along with 14 others. They were all about the same size (except for the pekins). At the store he was easily knocked over by the others. I ended up keeping him separate from everyone else except for a buddy, and he still had problems staying upright. I've been feeding Purina Flock Raiser, and started adding nutritional yeast since Wednesday. He's been able to walk better and falls over less, but it's still an issue, and he hasn't grown at all. All the other ducklings have started to get tail feathers and started looking "bumpy", but the he still looks the same.
Is there anything else I need to be doing, or has the niacin not had enough time to help him?

Here he is next to a normal duckling.

Hi there and bless your little duckling and you for looking out for them.

We had a lot of issues this year with our hatchlings.

I've told the story of Wonky here and he looked very small until nearly five or six weeks - he was also very poorly (literally wonky, had problems standing, balancing, everything really bless him).

I would add honey, ACE vits and selenium to his water (we called it duck lucozade) along with a b-complex supplement and keep doing what you are doing.

Is his poop looking okay ?

Thank you. His poop has been normal. I'll try what you've said. It was nice to read about Wonky. Its very reassuring that this IS fixable.

If their digestion is working well I think thats good news ! If they are able to eat and drink themselves - also positive !

We found consistent treatment was everything - we had very mixed experiences with buddying but its working for you (and it did for Wonky too) so stick with it and keep an eye out for pecking.

Good luck ! Would love to hear about their progress and this place is great for support on the not so great days. X

:hugs:( Aww I'm terribly sorry for your loss. Maybe it was just failure to thrive. You gave that little duckling a great life and did everything you could for it. Good luck with the rest of your flock.
