Duckling hatched with a brown blob attached?

Hello! I’ve hatched ducks a few times before, but this time I had one hatch with a brown blob attached to it? I’ve left it alone while others hatch, but am not sure what to do about it. The blob has dried up now and the duckling appears fine, but will it fall off on its own? Thank you! I opened it yesterday to remove a mosh pit of ducklings as well as to remove one that sadly didn’t make it, but it’s day 28 and I still also have 2 that have pipped, and one has its wing out by its beak but I don’t know if it can hatch like that? I’m worried that these last 3 will struggle? The humidity is in the high 70’s to 80’s and the temperature has been stable at 99.5’F.

Please give some advice about the brown goop and the one with its wing sticking out!!

I’d leave the goopy baby for now and see if it will fall off. Looks like their hatch was a little rough, is that membrane dried onto their shoulder?

Seems like the one with the wing out is trying to hatch but is stuck. You could leave them for a little while longer, like 30-60 more minutes, to see if they’ll figure it out, but if not, I’d remove that baby from the ‘bator and gently chip away at the shell with some tweezers. Just do enough to free their head and then put the baby back in the incubator.

Yes I believe it did have a rough hatch 😓 it was over night though so I didn’t see it. And the one with the wing was okay earlier but the wing came out in the past 2 hours I believe. All of the other 9 ducklings hatched perfectly fine, but these last ones are stragglers on day 28… so I’m hoping the best. I will monitor the one hatching and update if anything changes. Thank you!

Okay!! I did help a little bit and it finished hatching. For a bit it was curled up, probably from the awkward position it was in. But now it seems to be getting a little stronger. The one with the goop on it is very active, hoping the goop falls off tonight. In that case I will make sure to soak its back with a damp cloth or q tip to try and get the membrane off. It sucks that they’re having a tough time hatching but I will do my best to help them.
