My hubby just called our TSC and they said the ducklings came from New Mexico and that means Privet Hatchery.
Thats why I can't find them on the Ideal Page

I feel so stupid They got theirs from Ideal Last year so I assumed they got them from there this year.

So now the question is What kind of ducks does privett have? Too bad they don't have a online catalog anymore......

Heck if I knew that I would have bought more of their chicks/ducks Privett has some very good birds...

They don't look like any of the normal runner colors... Blue runners tend to have black feet/bills and will look brownish gray as babies. Fawn and white will look a lot like pekins, but will have tan around their face and back. hmmm..... I've never seen that color in runners before.... They could be Welsh Harlequins that may have runner in the genes. Welsh harlequins are yellow as babies and can have black bills/feet.

I've had some lighter hatchery blues that looked sort of like this, but their fuzz *was* more brown than yellow-toned, sort of like the Swedes recently posted in another thread. I wonder if this is a further dilution like lavender or lilac? Maybe with some white splashing (forget what you call that in ducks)? It really doesn't look harlequin to me, the fuzz coming in is too slate-colored on the head. Could be wrong

I guess I will just have to call them The mystery ducks at least until I can tell for sure what they are

Thanks everyone and if anyone else wants to add what you think they are it would be nice to hear what you have to say

Just saw this post. I had very similar colored Runner ducklings (about the same age?) -- here is what they looked like then and now.

Sorry the new pic is blurry. And it's been quite rainy and muddy here, but they are really quite striking when clean and in the sunlight. Never sure whether the color is called splash, lavender or silver?

They look like Silver/Splash Runners. Basically Blue except with two Blue dilution genes. They occur in 25% of Blue x Blue matings.

Thanks for bumping up this Thread haven't been to BYC in a while

The ducks in the Pic are Lavender Runner Ducks and I found out about them online.
Beautiful ducks but not much info on them, I don't have a recent pic of them but this was taken as they were getting that beautiful color.
I sold 3 of them because it ended up being 4 Drakes and 1 Hen so I kept only a pair

Really Beautiful Lavender color

I have chocolate and black runners, and these look like fawn and white runner babies to me. At about three weeks, mine would scream and huddle when I came in to work in their brooder. I suggest you try to nip this behavior in the bud. I got some good advice from Duckyfromoz, and stumbled across a factoid that runners HATE to feel cornered. I altered my behavior and by about ten weeks of age we became all the best of buddies. (peas. come in low. give them a safe place to go several feet away from you when you work in their space. sing. move slowly.)

They look almost Silver/Splash and White - like what you'd get from a Silver/Splash to a Fawn and White mating to me (Silver/Splash with the Pied pattern) - just because, in that more recent picture, they're much darker up on their chests and pure snowy white underneath.

I'm not even sure if that's how the genetics work.
