I have a 2 week old Cayuga duckling who spends noticeably more time laying down than the others. She is fed a 20% flock starter with 45mg/lb niacin (switching to 16% in the next few days), also I was giving supplemental Durvet B Vitamins to make sure they got enough and she gets pea treats so she shouldn't be niacin deficient. Her feet and legs are straight and normal looking. I cannot see any injuries, swelling or signs of bumblefoot. When she is active, she walks and runs around and acts normal otherwise. Theyre being brooded in the bathtub with puppy pads and no slip mats and have been getting more outside time daily (we are at about 30 min twice a day), first swim yesterday. She will lay down drinking and eating often and seems to tire quicker when playing, goes and lays down before the others. She doesn't act stressed in any way, in fact she's becoming my most calm and friendly and easily handled one. She loves playing with a cat toy ball but lays down playing with it even. Is there anything else I can do to help her or ideas what might be wrong? Does she just need to strengthen her legs? Its not extreme but definitely a noticeable difference. Not getting worse. She seems to be getting more active with more room to roam and activity but also more tired afterwards.
