Hello I'm new to this and it's my first time hatching. I have successfully hatched 2 chicks and 1 duckling and another duckling is on day 32 in the shell. I candled it and saw no movement at all so I began to break the shell ( I know I shouldn't have I feel bad enough ). The shell is now completely open and I was shocked to find that the yolk is still very large and veins are very thick. Although it looks bad the chick(or chicks?) is still alive and kicking but my question is what has has gone wrong and why hasn't anything been absorbed? Also could there be twins as they seem to be separated. How can I help the poor thing/s. This is my first time and I was a but to eager so please don't make me feel worse. The picture is quite graphic- the yellow is yolk and the dark is chick/s
and Welcome To BYC! Sorry about the duckling, you may want to post in the Duck forum for help on what is going on
