I'm new to ducks, have had chickens for a while, but have run into a dilemma. I got a single Australian Spotted duckling a week and a half ago, Noodles will be 2 weeks old tomorrow, 5-17. Noodles was incubated, and the lady had lower hatching success than expected, which is why I only got 1. Since I got Noodles, I've been frantically searching for other bantam ducklings to give her "friends", which hasn't been easy.
I picked up two 2-3 day old black east indies ducklings yesterday from a farm, so they were out with their mom and other poultry in a run. I was already planning on keeping them separate for a while, but one didn't make it through the night. I noticed on the way home that this one wasn't as active/loud, but did see it eat and drink. Both looked healthy: droppings look normal, eyes clear, bill clean, etc.
So now what? What extra quarantine steps do I need to take? Meds I should get? How long should I keep them separate? I was trying to get away from a single duckling, and now have two. They both are on Nature's Best Organic Duck feed, and I gave the BEI electrolytes, along with the regular water.
Any and all advice is appreciated!
