O.K., so my 10 ducklings are coming this week. I just had a few questions. I think I got the brooder, food, and water thing figured out. Just wondering what age they can have their first swim/bath, and when can they have their first treats such as vegies, etc.....? And do they need grit? I'm also worried since I'm getting 10, a few more than people normally get, will they bond with me if I spend time with them? I'm just afraid there are so many I won't be able to spread my love around.

From what I have read, as long as you hand out daily treats, you will be their best friend. LOL I read how people sit and cuddle with their duck, but how can you do that with ten!

When I clean out my brooder box - I put in the newspaper first- Climb in and sit with them all a while...And then add the shavings after I get out. ..Of course it helps that I just use huge Cardboard boxes as the brooders so there is plenty of room.

I usually wait a few days until they have a first "swim" which is usually more like a paddle in an inch of water for a few minutes. Then back under the heat lamp to dry off again so they dont get cold.
As far as treats go - Fruit like mango peach or apricot are usually the first things my ducklings get around ten days old.
