Newbie here! I've been lurking for a while but just got my Cayuga ducklings on Wednesday and now I need to post a question already because a search didn't come up exactly what I was looking for.

My new baby duckling, Kiera, started sneezing on Sunday morning. It's not the type of clearing her nostrils sneeze, it's actually sneezing. Sometimes many times in a row. There are no other symptoms at all (mucus, icky eyes, coughing etc). Just sneezing. Kiera is still very active, eating me out of house and home and drinking just fine. I got the vitamin/electrolyte powder for the water and put that in the waterers yesterday. This morning it's a little better but she's still sneezing. My other duckling Gabrielle is not sneezing. They do have proper waterers as well. The temp is fine too.

Can anyone provide assistance please?

when Timmy my duck was little, he used to sneeze out water after drinking. I'd take away her water for an hour, and see if she sneezes without it. then give it back either way... but then you'll know if it's her, or just messy nose drinking.

is it constant sneezing?? Mine sneeze , and usually many times in a row ,and I have
heard others say their ducks sneeze,, and all are fine and healthy..!!

Thanks for the reply.

hhhmmmm....I don't think it has to do with water though. She'll even sneeze after she wakes up from a nap too. And she doesn't have any discharge (water or otherwise) coming out of her nostrils.

I forgot to mention that I can sometimes hear her breathing like it's wheezy and now audible.

Have you looked up the symptoms for gape worms. I'm new to ducks too so I don't want to freak you out, just something to consider if it also makes a yawning gesture in addition to the wheezing and sneezing. Maybe someone else will have another option.

Update:

I went to my local farm store and bought the vitamins and electrolytes powder and used that for several days and it seemed to do the trick. No more sneezing.

My baby cayuga, Toyota, does the same! I think it's okay! If there is nothing else going on, she may just be getting water out of her nostrils.
