Just a simple tip for those of you raising ducklings dealing with water getting splashed from standard chicken waterers. Take a 1 gallon plastic milk jug or juice container and cut a hole through the side, as large of a diameter as you can as high up the side of the container as you can. Fill the waterer up to the bottom of the hole. The ducklings will stick their heads in and wet their bills, without splashing all over the brooder. Works extremely well and is simple, costs next to nothing. For smaller ducklings under a couple of weeks old, you can use 1/2 gallon containers and cut the hole a bit lower for them. Before I did this I would have to change the wood shavings almost daily due to water being splashed all over the place. Now it's once a week.
