This duckling was born 2 days ago outside in the duck pen. Its mum was sitting on the eggs. We noticed 2 new ducklings 2 days ago joining 2 that had already been born. When we first saw it the duckling was physically intact with no problems.

Several hours later my children noticed that it was alone at the side of the duck pen and its beak had been shredded (we don't know how it happened). So we brought it inside the house and put it into a broody box.

Any suggestions on how to look after it or what to do would be really appreciated. thanks

Oh no, poor little thing. Please post on the duck thread as well--they may be of more help. Make some very watery feed--add some raw egg, a bit of yogurt (just a dab,) and use enough water to make a paste in small bowl to see if it can eat. You will probably need to tube feed this baby until it heals and learns to eat or put it down. A vet should have tube feeding equipment, and I will post a link at the bottom about how to learn: Here is a very graphic story of a chicken whose beak got bitten off by a dog, but she eventually survived due to her owner's dedication and care tube feeding her:
