Hello.
I had a duckling pip but they made zero progress for over 24 hours. After about two days of peeping but doing nothing I decided to help the little guy a bit (having experience assisting ducklings).
I opened the hole a bit more then let them take care of the rest, which they did.
The duckling got out but it has a large, red 'bellybutton'sticking out and is still attached to the shell. It appears to have bled a little as well. There is not yoke sack though, so that's good.
It keeps trying to move and get the shell off but I'm afraid it might cause more bleeding.
I have never had this happen before and I'm very concerned. The last thing I want to do is put it down but I was wondering if someone could help me.
Any advice is appreciated. PLEASE help if you can.
Thank you!!
