Hi All. I have a 4 week old duckling that still hasn't grown feathers. It's also 3 times as small. The other ducklings it's age are now able to go outside and swim, but he can't. I've been told by other duck parents that he has a congenital defect and may not live long, but other than his size and no feathers, he's a normal baby duck and wants to be with his flock. I've been supplementing niacin and will add multivitamins to his feed, and it does appear feathers are starting to push through his skin, so I'm hoping he's just a late bloomer. I need advice on how to get him to imprint on me, although, it's a little late, or get him to feel like he isn't alone during the night when he's in his brooder box. I was thinking maybe a stuffed duck, or something like that. Any advice you can provide would be helpful. I'm very hopeful, his development will catch up, or at least grow feathers, but it's a big possibility it won't. I need to know how to give him the best quality of life possible. Thanks.

:welcome Imprinting takes place during the first couple of days of a ducklings life. He knows that he is a duck not a human. :p Try providing a mirror to give company.
