Hi all.

I have two broody hens sitting on duck eggs in their best boxes. The eggs have 5 days to go, and I'm wondering about the best plan of action. I want these ducks to live as chickens so that they don't need separate housing and learn to put themselves to bed at night etc... But I don't know if I can leave them where they are, as the ducklings wouldn't be able to get out of the nest boxes, and I don't know what the other chickens would do. But I don't have a separate enclosure, so am wondering about putting the broody coop/nursery coop inside the rather big coop that my girls live in. Anyone has any thoughts on this? Or could I just leave them where they are and let the 'mothers' deal with it?!

Thanks!

I would leave them where they are and let the hen raise the ducklings with the flock. She will probably find a spot on the floor of the coop to nest with her babies once they are hatched, if she can't get them into and out of the nest boxes, so make sure they are accommodated there.
