About how long does it take for them to zip?

In my experience, they usually pip and then rest. Then it will take anywhere from 15 minutes to 20 hours until they are fully out of the egg

I’ve never hatched eggs before so I don’t really know much about what’s normal and not, I know they take awhile to hatch but he started zipping last night so I figured he’d be done by now.

I don’t know where everyone is this morning. Can the duckling move at all to finish zipping is it opening and closing its bill?

If baby made all that my guess is he tried to zip and got stuck with a foot over the head

If you can Candle above the head not in the air cell you should be able to see in and see if veins are gone
That’s how I know if mine are ready to be helped
Usually don’t see them zipping unless ready

Has he hatched yet? If you’re careful you can help him finish the zip by picking off bits of shell but leaving the membrane intact to check for veins. Pick off the shell in a circle just like the ducklings do when they’re zipping. As long as you see no blood or active veins, continue. Then put it back in the incubator and see if it’s able to finish hatching. If after another hour still no progress, you can break the membrane and the duckling should be able to come out. That’s just what I do

He is moving and when I can see his bill he will open it sometimes
