Hi everyone, thanking you in advance for any advice! We have two lovely girl's (Khaki Campbell's) around 7 months old, and two Buff Orpington ducklings who are almost 6 weeks old. Over the past few days we have been slowly introducing them to each other in supervised meetings and my older girl's have been the sweetest things. They're not in the slightest put out by the new babies and will happily share treats and splashing space etc. This morning the babies performed some Houdini escapism from their enclosure and literally evicted my big girl's from their own pool! I watched closely and they launched several full on attacks, hissing, biting and trying to pull feathers while the older two just stood there and took it. I have put them back in their run and made doubly sure the door is closed firm (my older girl's free range) and they have calmed down but are looking pretty ticked off and currently giving me the serious evil eye lol. Is this just a pecking order thing trying to find their place or is this a sign they're not going to get along? I've tried to do some research but everything I've read suggests it would be the bigger ducks that would attack the babies, which I was cautious of hence the supervised time together, however it's definitely the other way around here! Do I just need to give it more time or would you suggest keeping them separate? As lovely as the duckling's are, I can't and won't have my other sweet girl's bullied
Any advice/suggestions very gratefully received!
