Ducklings brooded by hens

I have some scovy eggs with hen/turkey broody mamas. Do the eggs need extra moisture to make up for the water the normal scovy mama would have on her from splashing on herself during washing?

Not sure about muscovy eggs under a broody hen/turkey sorry.
You might have more luck asking on the Duck boards.
I cool and mist my geese eggs daily but not sure if you'd have to with a broody.
Only issue I see is muscovy taking 35 days and the hen/turkey wanting to quit before they were done.

We have two chooks sitting on duck eggs (Pekin) now. From what I've researched they do need a little 'extra' water. I've been misting the eggs with warm water about every other day when the hens get off their nests

BTW, the hens can sit the full 35 days (or they may not). Mine have been faithfully brooding the eggs for 28 and 30 days with no sign of giving up.

in my country, it's been in common, that people put all duck eggs under hen to let the hen hatch them, not sure why, perhaps they don't trust the duck..

and in practice here, all hens here doing good with ducks eggs.

i think a problem occurs sometimes when you put both chicken and duck eggs under because the hens hatch first and then mum gives up to look after the little ones, i think you should be fine without adding extra water too, we have never had a problem or had to spray eggs. good luck with it and keep us informed please.

Well...I had a duckling hatch out....but it might be older than the rest of the eggs. So nothing else has hatched out...and the mums are staying on their unhatched eggs and ignoring the poor scovy baby. I didn't see him today though....he might've gotten eaten by some greedy predator while the hens bovinely clucked to their eggs and grouched at each other.

we had a light sussex bantam who hatched a khaki campbell she was fine we didnt need to do any thing for her we just let her get on with it.
