Ducklings drinking too much?

Posting under my mother's account with a quick question!

The other day she was visiting her local feed store, where the ducklings apparently drank so much that they were filling their crops so full that they were falling over backwards and drowning, where someone thinking themselves a good Samaritan had placed their waterer back into the tub after it had been removed.
Is this a common problem for anyone?
Just piqued some curiosity on my end!

Thanks!
Ash

I am the mom! LOL! Their crops were so full of water that it was as big as their body.. The water was actually coming back out when the owner and I were holding them upright in our hands. So many of the ducklings were like that he couldn't hold them all. I am a reg customer there so he knew I would help without making a fuss and thus creating a problem by notifying everyone in the store, making them think the ducklings were sick from something else. One died, the owner handed it to me to check for sure and I quietly slipped it over to an employee.

Well perhaps i have missed something in my duck raising journey but NEVER encountered that .... and i have raised many a duckling(and yes ones with no mama), the only reason i would think they would gorge themselves on water would be if they were lacking in it. Ducks MUST have water when they have food, no if's on that.. is it possible this is what happened?

No, that was not it. They were getting water regularly, and carefully, making sure they didn't engorge on the water. He had two other tubs (actually big bins) in which there were more ducklings but to which customers had not put the waterers back in to. There were no problems in those bins.

Well, I don't know the scoop here, my ducklings had water 24/7, all they could drink, and we did not have that problem.

Is there something in their feed, too much salt?

Haha, got my own account D=<
No clue what they were feeding them. Maybe mom knows.
Just something that she happened upon, and shared with me, which as said, piqued my curiosity!

I am riding on the same train here Amiga, mine had water 24/7 and not heard of such a thing, now drowning in too deep of a water container? yes, otherwise no. I'm sorry OP i don't know what else to tell you, i do feel something else was happening here.
