Hey there. I got 2 2-day old baby mallards, both hens, and picked them up an hour or 2 after they were born. The first day they didn't care if I picked them up and loved to jump on me and have them pet them. The second day now they are very skitzy and when I pick them up they FLIP OUT and squirm. Also if I take one out of the cage or something, the one that I didn't take out goes crazy and peeps very loud. And if they are both in the cage and want to come out and run around, they are relentless and won't be quiet and will jump in on the side (2nd video) until taken out.. I'll also be sitting here and they will just start being extremely loud. What should I do and why are they doing this. Videos below.

This is what happens if I leave them to go downstairs to eat or do something else for just a few minutes:

This is what happens when I am sitting next to their cage watching TV or something:

those videos are weird

Well mallards are a wild breed so they tend to be skittish and will not like you to handle them, but they think you're the mother so they want you to be with them.

Thank you! Even though they poop everywhere, they are the cutest things I've ever seen

Haha! Im hatching ducks this summer.. never had any but can't wait til they hatch and it helps having this forum to look to for help. But I've already learned so much from researching here and on google. This site is sooo useful
