hi!
I'm new to the site, but I've farmed my whole life and new to ducks. I have 6 ducklings that got into the water trough for the horses. Luckily I got them pretty quick but by time I got the they were very stiff and in shock. I thought for sure they were dead. I was so upset.
I quickly got a towel and wrapped them all up and got them in the house.
For a few moments I held a hair dryer about 2 feet above them to get them some warmth.
I had my mom hold the dryer over them all as I picked each one up to warm up a little closer to it and gently move their legs to get them moving.
Once they were dry we put them in a box together so they could cuddle each other and still kept the warm air on them. (Low setting by the way and good distance so we didn't burn them)
Finally started getting some chirping but not full movement yet. We put them on a warm blanket under a heat lamp. They are now walking around d and eating...
I am just wondering if you thank after all this, that they will be okay? I love animals and it just breaks my heart they went through this today...

Adding some poultry vitamins to their water or offering some mashed scrambled eggs wouldn't hurt, and will give them a little "boost" after going through that. I assume you blocked the horse trough off so they can't get back in?

Yeah. We have a few full grown ducks that drink from it so I'm guessing they followed them (it was their first day in the barn yard) but until they are older we are going to put them in the smaller coop we have for when had the chicks. We had rabbits in it until we finished our second hutch. But we should be able to get everyone in a safe environment tomorrow. But mashed scrambled eggs, I wouldn't have even thought of that. I appreciate all your help. Its been a learning process. Things were going well until today.

The ducklings are currently in the house so they are nice and warm tonight.
