Anyone ever have a duck successfully raise a brood in the winter? I have an Ancona hen who looks to be going broody.

not yet , i havent gotten a duck egg yet. But as long as she has a nice draft free place to brood. Do you have a dog house for her or something similar.

I pansied out. My silkie hen was going to raise my ducklings for me... but I got too nervous and brought them inside instead. Now I have huge ducklings in the house.

I have had a duck hatch them in the winter and they did just fine. She took great care of them. Once we moved her and her nest into a building, but that was more for predator protection than for cold protection. Let her do it. If they show any signs of stuggling you will know and can make some temp. arrangements to accomodate.
