We had a short, supervised joint swim today. The female duck immediately jumps in with them and corralles them as if they are hers. Papa duck seemed to care less except that he was watching over Mama duck. (Papa and Mama are just names, they are not actually the parents- they are only 8.5weeks)
I really thought I had three females with the littles but.... one of these things is not like the others, one of these things just isn’t the same....

The middle duck acts like a male... ‘he’ stands while they sit around him or he hangs out front while they cuddle. He is also louder than them which I found to be true of my first male. It’s just a hunch.

Yep I do and they spend a lot of time together and I guess that duckling jumped immediately because it thinks it his mama and papa how cute. And they just Layed eggs because they are big and u have a cute colour of ducks tho :)

Did you get more ducks? I like your Duck's pool!
Yes! Once we moved out duo outside we got three more. It was always the plan to have 5- all female or 1 male & 4 females. I was going to order them to be sure I got females but I had a friend help me sex them myself and I’m second-guessing my abilities now! LOL!

That is exciting and good to hear!! Thank you!

I think you have to play the waiting game now as their vent wouldn't be as "elastic" to check again. But, just remember even hatcheries make mistakes.
