Ducklings privates

Hi I am a newbie duck hatcher and owner ... I noticed when my only duckling hatched.... Where it's privates should be were sore and scabbed.... I've left the scab to fall off on its own but now it still looks wrong... Anyone know what it is?

I can't tell from the picture..are you sure that it's not his umbilical cord? Look further back towards his tail..move the fuzz aside..his vent should be there..
