I've had my 2 welsh harlequin ducklings (they'll be 3 weeks old on Monday) in the brooder until today. This afternoon I let them outside for the first time. There was a bit of running around and activity. Temperatures were mild and they were mostly out of the sun. Eventually I brought them in and both of them are tired beyond belief and just want to sleep. It's the very young duckling type of sleep, where their head starts nodding off and they finally are out cold, with their eyes closed. I thought they would be ravenous, but neither of them seem to want to drag themselves to their food/water. If I bring their food "soup" (duck food mixed with water) to them, they eat, but otherwise, they are not really active. The bill on one of them is a bit warm. Are they just tired from all the exertion? Or did they nibble on something when they were out there that has done them harm?
Their poop seems fine. They don't seem sick, but they don't seem right either, if that makes sense.
