Yes! It's to make a hat for a friend who is going to lose her hair to chemo. Apparently, the term "chemo hat" is a thing.

I knit a gauge swatch last night. The weather is supposed to be lousy today, so I'll start knitting after (a short) morning walksie with Freya.

That sounds excellent! Hats are good projects. Complicated enough to be interesting, but small enough to be fast!

I've been trying some ideas out with hats. The last one I made I called a POC (proof of concept) hat. I wasn't sure until it was finished if it had worked. It did, pretty well. Otherwise, it would have been a POC (piece of crap) hat.

And hats don't take a lot of yarn. I can probably get 3-4 hats out of one skein of yarn. Well, two skeins, since the pattern stitch I've been doing calls for two different colors.
