Ducklings with heads up?

i have two little ducklings in my new batch that keep their heads up all the time... it looks like when they take a drink and swig it back to swallow, but they do it all of the time, esp under the light....

Should i be concerned, worried... is this normal?

Just keep an eye on them. They might just be super interested in what's going on. Or trying to warm their bills.

I must say this, I was going to orde, 2 pekins and 2 buff ducks, but after seeing your post I am not also getting a blue/black/splash swedish, and a magpie!!!

the swedish does it the most... she even does it when she's under shade... hmmmm..... it seems like as long as she's up and not sleeping, she's got her head up...

Looks like they are in a walled box? They may just be looking up as that would be where they can see what's going on around them?
Just a guess, then again they could be sunbathing! LOL

Keep an eye on them, I think they will be fine. Woodies do this, as that's the way out of the tree they were hatched in, they have to climb out, could just be a through back to that?
