Today I found my first duck egg!! So exciting!! So, here is my plan for this spring ducklings. I want to incubate a batch and raise them so that they are very friendly but I'd also like the mom to be able to raise a small batch herself. I've been reading about needing to supervise ducklings swimming so that they don't drown, get too cold, etc. but what if the mom is raising them? Should she not be aloud access to a tub so that the ducklings cannot get in? And also she is with one other duck (a drake). Would he pose a threat to the ducklings? Would it be best to seperate her from him?
Lots of questions but its that kind of season!!
Thank you.

but what if the mom is raising them?Mom provides oils to properly insulate them. As long as it's warm enough she will have everything under control with swimming.

Should she not be aloud access to a tub so that the ducklings cannot get in? How tall is the Tub?

And also she is with one other duck (a drake). Would he pose a threat to the ducklings? Yes Drakes can kill ducklings.

Would it be best to seperate her from him? Yes for the safety of everyone I would advise separating them.
