How long do you leave duckling that are out of their shells in the bator before moving to a brooder if some others are still hatching.

My FIL took his out when they were dry and fluffy, no more than a day I think. They immediately went into a brooder with a heat lamp.

I take mine out when they are dry and holding their heads up. Usually about 12 - 24 hous after hatch. they need warmth from a heat lamp but not as much as chicks do. Make sure you have enough room in the brooder the ducklings can gte away from the light and heat as needed. They seem to sleep more the first day after hatch too.

Thanks,

I just moved 2 to the brooder 4 more are moving in their shells. I helped out one last night the other came out by itself but I did break some of the shell away. The shell is also broken away on the others but I'm going to let nature take its course even though it is hard to resist helping them, these are wild wood duck that the nest was abandoned and my first hatch.

Thanks for any help
