Hi All,

I am from New Jersey and have two ducklings 3 weeks old. I just put them out in a secure pen with a goat house ( no goats) stuffed with hay etc for them. We are having 75 to 85 degree days and low to mid 60's evenings. My ducks seem to be fine...healthy, eating, drinking playing. I feel confused because I read the need the heated lamp till 5 weeks at least but my husband was afraid to put lamp out in pen. Can I assume that my ducks have adjusted if all seems so well and the weather is only predicted to get warmer?? I had ducks years ago and did the same with no problems but I seem to be one of the few that have done this :(

I have raised duckling and usually we start letting them outside at around 3 weeks without a lamp. As long as your ducklings don't seem to be stressed and huddled together looking cold they should be fine. Make sure that it isn't too windy either. Treat them like you would treat any other animal, if they seem content, then there is nothing to worry about. :)
