ok last week I thought something got into my ducks pen,one duck dead and the other eight had the feathers pulled from there neck like when they mate.they have been acting very strange before this they started hopping in circles with there heads pointed at the ground,I videotaped it but this site will not upload it.Now here is the strange coincidence Tractor Supply was out of there dunmore grower/finisher food actually they were out of all food so I ended up going to Agway and getting a bag of chick starter food Agway brand that's all that anygbody had.And that is when all this odd behavior started.so I got rid of that Agway food and got them a bag of maintainer and they seem to be getting a little better every day.Any ideas what is going on.They are acting like there drunk and disoriented. My wife and I don't think anything got into there pen we think they did this to each other like they went crazy and just fought each other.

It's not that uncommom to get a bag of feed that has mold growing in it which can cause health related issues even death. Could have been botulism. Since they all were like what you described. Still I have never heard of ducks attacking each other like this especially at that young age. Minks, Weasels can get through an inch opening so I have read. Go to the pred thread and share what has happened see if someone can give new insight.

I am happy for you they are doing better since you changed out the feed.

Try to upload the video on YouTube and provide the link here, that’s what I do for my videos! Could be some toxin. How many drakes and how many hens do you have?

I had 3 male 6 female they were very calm friendly ducks until I gave them that food they never fought before and played all day together never acted like this before. My oldest duck is a male he is a sweetheart my Peking is a female and a sweetheart and my lead female is a very gentle duck also and the rest of them are very nice ducks they never fought before giving them this food.its like someone took my ducks and traded them with different ones.i will try doing that youtube upload.

My drakes have never torn feathers out of their females necks or killed any from breading. Not saying enough drakes couldn't do this just saying I have had up to 4 drakes at one time and never experienced this. Now beating up each other yes.
